Bitumen Biturox

The Bitumen Biturox® family comprises three sub-families of paving-grade bitumen, manufactured using the Biturox® oxidation process. All grades are produced in accordance with the Group’s approved technical data sheets and quality standards.

Penetration Grade Bitumen

Standard paving-grade bitumen used in road construction. It bounds aggregates in a bituminous mix to create cohesion and stability, and is graded by penetration test (0.1 mm units at 25 °C, 100 g, 5 s).

Cutback Bitumen

Cutback Bitumen is produced by blending bitumen with controlled amounts of petroleum distillates, such as kerosene, to temporarily reduce its viscosity. This allows the bitumen to penetrate pavement surfaces more effectively and enables application by spraying at lower ambient temperatures where conventional bitumen may be unsuitable.

Viscosity Grade Bitumen

Paving-grade bitumen specified by kinematic viscosity at 60 °C. Preferred in specifications that call for viscosity-graded rather than penetration-graded material.

Applications

  • Asphalt pavement: Binder for asphalt mixtures used in highways, roads, and streets.

  • Road surfacing: Used in asphalt wearing and base courses to provide durability and resistance to traffic loads.

  • Airport pavements: Suitable for asphalt applications requiring reliable performance under heavy and repeated loading.

  • Maintenance and rehabilitation: Used in road resurfacing, overlays, and pavement repair.

  • Industrial and infrastructure applications: Can be used in selected waterproofing and other bitumen-based applications, depending on the grade and specification.

Drum Making and Filling

Drum is one of the most applicable packaging types of bitumen which are shipped into containers or vessels. Corrugated newly produced cold rolled steel drums

  • Manufacturing & filling capacity: 10,000 dpd

Drum Specifications

Poly Bag

Poly bag (Jumbo bag) was designed to operate under any weather conditions. The bagged bitumen is placed next to the melting unit and the bag is raised by the crane that is an integral part of the unit. After the outer bag has been removed, the bitumen is then easily melted over the heated burners. The melted product is collected in a storage tank, where it is ready to be used. This melting equipment is especially prepared to guarantee a high heat transfer area, taking into consideration the physical and chemical properties of the product. It minimizes associated energy costs and guarantees the consistency of the product.

Poly bag offers numerous environmental, safety and stock management advantages. Its structure ensures the simultaneous transport of large

quantities of bitumen, and its long-term storage capability drastically reduces energy costs.

Flexitank

Flexitank is a bladder or bag that can be fit into a standard ISO container and used for the transport and/or storage of a non-regulated liquid inside a cargo transport unit (container).

Environmentally Friendly

Flexitanks are environmentally friendly since they use the least amount of materials and have the least level of energy consumption during their life cycle. Flexitanks ensure the highest level of internal hygiene, reducing the risk of a reaction within the tank releasing greenhouse gases.

Cost Effective

A less expensive and more efficient means of transporting liquids in bulk that decreases shipping costs while addressing the issues associated with standard liquid shipping methods in high volumes. When using ISO tank containers, drums, or barrels, loading and unloading times are substantially longer, they must be cleaned after each use, and they must be returned to the provider on most occasions. It offers easy loading and unloading processes that require less labor. Flexible packaging that is 100 percent recyclable and serves as an interior coating for a regular container.


Bulk Packing

Transportation of this kind of bitumen is done through bulk vessels or bitumen tankers.

Bulk Tankers

There are two methods of bulk bitumen transportation:

  1. Common methods through Direct Flame Heating

  2. Bitucontainers or bitumen tank containers equipped with integrated heating system


Bulk Vessels

Bulk vessels which are well equipped with required facilities have the capacity between 800 MT to 5,000 MT of bitumen and ship bitumen through blue routes.
