Saman Cement posts its strongest quarterly production to date, reinforcing supply for Iraq's construction sector.
Saman Cement, the Iraqi Wataniya Group's flagship construction-materials subsidiary, has posted its strongest quarterly output on record, cementing its position as a critical supplier to Iraq's fast-growing infrastructure sector.
The milestone reflects sustained investment in the plant's kiln lines and a disciplined focus on operational reliability. Located 38km west of Samawa in the Al Muthanna District, the facility has steadily raised throughput while holding to the quality standards that regional contractors depend on.
A record built on reliability
The third-quarter result was driven by higher kiln availability, tighter maintenance scheduling, and a logistics network that kept dispatch moving through peak construction demand. The plant now supplies projects across central and southern Iraq, from public infrastructure to private developments.
What is behind the growth
Management points to three factors underpinning the performance:
- Modernised kiln operations that lifted effective capacity without compromising clinker quality.
- A preventive-maintenance regime that reduced unplanned downtime across the quarter.
- An integrated supply chain, coordinated with sister subsidiaries, that secured raw materials and fuel end to end.
The Group sees the quarter as a proof point for its wider industrial strategy: vertically integrated subsidiaries that reinforce one another across energy, materials, and construction.
Supplying Iraq's next phase of building
As reconstruction and development accelerate nationwide, demand for locally produced cement continues to climb. Saman Cement's expanded output helps insulate contractors from import volatility and supports faster project delivery on the ground.
The subsidiary expects to sustain the higher run-rate into the coming quarters, backed by ongoing investment and the Group's long-term commitment to Iraq's industrial base.
